Porsche Partners with Feature.io for Groundbreaking Lollipop Racing Series
Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) has officially announced its exciting collaboration with Lollipop Racing, a cutting-edge streaming series and interactive game created by entertainment technology studio Feature.io. Helmed by the critically acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer, known for his work on The Fast and the Furious, this innovative series promises to blend high-octane racing with engaging storytelling and interactive gaming.
Fans eager to dive into this unique experience can participate in Lollipop Racing in three thrilling ways: by watching the uniquely crafted streaming series, engaging in immersive quests that offer rewards, or competing in an interactive fantasy sports format. This last option will have players tuning into each episode to unravel clues embedded in the story, crucial for strategizing their way to victory by the season’s end.
The Lollipop Racing series will consist of ten captivating episodes and ten exhilarating motorsport races, all taking place in digitally recreated versions of iconic global cities. The series will prominently feature some of Porsche’s top-performing vehicles, including the track-specific 911 GT3 RS and the dedicated race car 911 GT3 R. PCNA is joined by two undisclosed automotive brands and Mobil 1, which has signed on as the Official Presenting Sponsor.
“Porsche is excited to be part of ‘Lollipop Racing,’ a first-of-its-kind streaming series and interactive game that showcases performance-bred cars,” said Ayesha Coker, Vice President of Marketing at PCNA. “This innovative combination of scripted episodes and interactive gaming offers a fun and engaging way for fans and newcomers to immerse themselves in the world of motorsports.”
Harnessing the latest technology from Feature, Lollipop Racing creates an interactive environment where participants can join one of 15 teams racing across ten global cities. Five of those teams will pilot two Porsche models each, totaling ten high-performance vehicles on the track. Success in these races will hinge on strategy, with players needing to optimize their decisions based on clues provided throughout the series.
Feature’s CEO, Steven Ilous, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, noting, “We’re honored to feature the iconic 911 in the Lollipop series, delivering a fan experience that aligns with Porsche’s legacy of design, innovation, and performance.”
The pilot experience for Lollipop Racing is set to launch in late 2024. It aims to redefine motorsport entertainment by marrying advanced streaming capabilities with an interactive gaming environment. The first three destinations for races include AI-simulated environments in Los Angeles, Miami, and London, with additional locations across Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America to be revealed soon.
This innovative series leans heavily on AI and advanced virtual production techniques to deliver real-time immersion. As Ilous explained, “The interactive races are driven by an AI engine akin to self-driving technology, but outcomes depend on human strategies, ensuring player decisions directly influence race performance.”
To keep fans connected, Lollipop Racing plans to release a schedule and further updates, inviting audiences to sign up for news and opportunities to engage directly with this new frontier of motorsport entertainment.
The teaser for Lollipop Racing, developed in collaboration with Mobil 1 and produced by Narwhal Studios, showcases the impressive virtual production technologies at play. This partnership and the talent of Ayer, along with a skilled production team, aim to deliver a visually stunning and engaging narrative that captures the thrill of motorsport like never before.
With its innovative approach, Lollipop Racing is poised to capture the hearts of racing enthusiasts and gamers alike, all while showcasing the legendary performance of Porsche vehicles.
