Movement Labs Unveils 85 Finalists in $2 Million Web3 Hackathon
Movement Labs, the innovative force behind a new blockchain harnessing the Move smart contract language, has revealed a remarkable lineup of 85 finalists for its highly anticipated hackathon, dubbed the "Battle of Olympus." This two-month competition attracted a staggering 2,100 submissions from adept developers across the globe, demonstrating an increasing enthusiasm for Move-based blockchain technology and its potential to revolutionize decentralized applications.
With over $2 million up for grabs, the hackathon has ignited significant interest, underscoring the momentum around Movement Labs’ initiatives. Recently, the company reported that its Web3 projects have successfully deployed on its testnet, with an impressive total value locked (TVL) of $160 million poised for its forthcoming Mainnet launch. This figure highlights the substantial financial commitments being made by projects eager to be part of the Movement ecosystem.
Among the finalists, ten standout projects emerged across six pivotal categories, showcasing novel applications of Move-based technology:
1. Titan:
- StakedMove: This premier liquid staking token is set to enhance network security while providing users with yield opportunities.
2. DeFi:
- Gasyard: A cross-network gas optimization protocol designed to streamline DeFi transactions and elevate user experiences.
- PicWe: An omni-chain liquidity infrastructure that facilitates the seamless transfer of assets throughout the Movement ecosystem.
3. AI:
- RNDM: An AI-driven modular liquidity solution with the potential to transform automated market-making within DeFi.
4. SocialFi:
- Podium: A Web3 social audio platform creating community-moderated discussions that bridge the gap between social media and blockchain.
- Movewiffrens (MWFs): A decentralized social media platform reimagining online interactions through blockchain-based identity and content ownership.
5. NFTs/GameFi:
- Seekers Alliance: This skill-based trading card game integrates innovative NFT mechanics, showcasing the advanced smart contract capabilities of Movement.
- Simemes: A meme-fueled social gaming platform that merges viral internet culture with blockchain gaming experiences.
6. Infrastructure:
- Movide: An advanced online Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for Move, aiding in faster development on the Movement network.
- Scaffold Move: A comprehensive toolkit for developing decentralized applications, reducing barriers for developers engaging with the Movement ecosystem.
The champions of the Battle of Olympus hackathon will not only gain recognition but also substantial rewards, including grants reaching up to $100,000 from the Movement Foundation. Winners will also access the newly launched Move Collective accelerator program, introductions to a network of elite venture capital firms, continuous technical support and mentorship, eligibility for the MoveDrop program, and a sponsored trip to Devcon 2024 in Thailand, courtesy of investor 280 Capital.
