Node.vc Secures €71 Million Fund Backed by Nordic Entrepreneurial Giants

In an exciting development for the Nordic startup ecosystem, Stockholm-based venture capital firm Node.vc has successfully raised $77.3 million (approximately €71 million) for its inaugural fund. This founder-focused investment vehicle is distinguished by its backing from a remarkable cohort of 70 Nordic entrepreneurs, showcasing widespread confidence in its mission.

Node.vc adopts a sector-agnostic approach, indicating its commitment to identifying opportunities across various industries. Notably, the fund has already made strides in the gaming sector, highlighted by its initial investments in innovative companies. The firm is led by a team of experienced professionals who have previously held roles in prominent tech companies such as Tobii, Tobii Dynavox, and gaming pioneer Paradox Interactive.

The recent capital raise marks a significant milestone in the venture capital landscape, especially after a period of cautious investment trends. This funding is anticipated to invigorate entrepreneurial activity and foster innovation across the region.

Key players supporting the fund include Saminvest, a Swedish government-backed venture capital entity established to promote sustainable ventures, alongside a roster of leading Nordic institutional investors. The impressive support underscores a collective belief in Node.vc’s potential to shape the future of venture investment in the Nordics.

Prominent backers also comprise founders from renowned companies such as Axis Communications, Yubico, Polarium, Cint, Evolution, and PriceRunner. This diverse collective of investors positions Node.vc to effectively bridge the gap between established entrepreneurs and new founders, thus creating a supportive ecosystem for innovation.

Championing a Founder-First Ecosystem

At the heart of Node.vc’s investment philosophy is a founder-first approach, emphasizing the importance of fostering collaboration between experienced entrepreneurs and emerging startups. The firm is committed to leveraging its robust network to guide and scale innovative tech enterprises.

To date, Node.vc has made three notable investments in Swedish startups: Lemonado, specializing in no-code software development; Roro, a creative play studio; and Starhive, which offers a next-gen unified data management platform for enterprises.

John Elvesjö, Managing Partner at Node.vc, articulated the firm’s mission, stating, “We know what it takes to build and scale successful companies. That’s why we always put founders first; Node.vc is creating an environment where entrepreneurs support entrepreneurs.”

Elvesjö further emphasized their commitment, noting that their unique position equips them to provide more than just capital—rather, they aim to share invaluable insights and experience with the companies they invest in.

The firm’s unique positioning has drawn praise from industry stakeholders, including Magnus Skåninger, CEO of Saminvest, who remarked, “Node.vc has the team and vision to deploy capital across the ecosystem in such a way that drives a new wave of entrepreneur-backed success.”

As Node.vc continues to establish itself as a key player in the Nordic venture capital scene, its dedication to nurturing startups and fostering collaboration among entrepreneurs promises to inspire a new era of innovation across diverse sectors.
